ARRIVING and LEAVING
The purpose of this section is to give a brief mention to those who arrived at Karori School after Standard 1 or from another country, and those who left Karori before Standard 6. Anyone who can add to this list please let Haddon know.
- Boris Artimov and Natalie Zortov were from Russia, and lived in the Russian Consulate on Messinnes Road where their parents were employed. They both returned to Russia before graduating from Karori School.
- Philip and Diane Harris came to Karori School in 1951 Standard 3(1) from Northland School in Wellington.
- Ineke van Melle’s family emigrated from Holland. She joined Karori School in Standard 6(2).
- Garth Edwards was at Karori School in 1950, Standard 2(1) . It is not known what primary school he arrived from or transferred to. He later went to Wellington College.
- Barbara Roffey came from Shropshire in the UK. She only attended Karori school for one year, Standard 6(2), and then her family returned to the UK.
- Douglas Crease was at Karori School in 1949, Standard 1(1). It is not known what primary school he transferred to. He later went to Wellington College.
- Ainsley Walker left Karori School at the end of 1950, Standard 2(1), and went to Khandallah School for two years. She finished her final two years of primary school education at Queen Margaret College
- Michael Stewart left Karori School in 1952, Standard 4(2), and went to Lytton Street School in Fielding.
- Gail Ivin left Karori School towards the end of 1954 Standard 6(2). She finished her primary school education at Fendalton School in Christchurch.
- Denys Sumner joined us at Karori School in 1953 Standard 5(1). He came from the West Coast in the South Island. It is not known what primary school he transferred from
- Jon Parson first went to Morewa School in Napier, then to Thorndon School in Wellington. He joined us at Karori School in Standard 3(1) in 1951.
- Grahame Pohlen went to Hastings West School which was later renamed Raureka School, before joining us at Karori School in Standard 4(1) in 1952.
- Chloe Brown has certainly the most interesting history at primary schools. She started at Napier Central School, then when her family moved to Wellington she went first to Mornington School, and later to Roseneath School. Her family then moved to Christchurch and Chloe went to Elmwood School. Her family then moved to Lower Hutt and she went first to Epuni School, and later Lower Hutt Intermediate School, before joining us at Karori School in Standard 5(1) in 1953.
